Our robot exceeded our expectations on the night of the competition. We managed to solve all three boards. However, we do think that our code could be improved. Fred can solve any easy or medium puzzle. However, if we get a board with a lot of pits, Fred sometimes incorrectly identifies the location of the pits or does not identify all the pits and so makes a wrong move that leads to his “death”. We can try and improve the code for that. Also, to get home, Fred backtracks through his path taken which isn’t very optimal. Therefore, having a pathfinding function to find the best path through the safe locations on the grid will be another improvement.
